Title: A New Beginning
It was a sunny day in the small town of Valle Verde. Daily life was flowing normally when suddenly, a scream startled the passersby in the park. A group of children was playing on the grass, laughing and running around, when one of them—a boy of about two years—appeared alone, tears in his eyes.
The boy, with curly hair and large, frightened eyes, was curled up inside a cardboard box as if he had found refuge. He wore nothing but a worn-out t-shirt and shorts, and his face showed a mix of confusion and fear. When discovered, he slowly stood up, fearful, not knowing what to do.
Mrs. Marta, a kind elderly woman who always took walks in the park, approached cautiously. Seeing his distressed expression filled her heart with compassion. “Hello, little one, where are your parents?” she asked gently, kneeling to be at his level. The boy, with a trembling voice, muttered something only she could hear.
Marta offered him her hand. “Come on, let’s go find Mommy and Daddy,” she said as she guided him out of the box. At first, the boy hesitated, but the warmth in her voice awakened his trust. With each step they took, Mrs. Marta told him stories from her own childhood, trying to make him forget the fear that had enveloped him.
As they walked, they began to search for the boy’s parents. After a moment, they heard worried voices calling out for the child. “Lucas!” they shouted, and the little boy’s eyes lit up. With one last effort, Marta led him toward the sound.
Upon reaching the playground, they found a distressed mother who, upon seeing Lucas, ran toward him with open arms. “Oh, Lucas, don’t ever scare me like that again!” she said, tears of joy streaming down her face as she hugged him tightly.
Marta smiled at the reunion but felt a pang of sadness at the thought that the boy, whom she had wanted to protect for just a few moments, was no longer under her care. However, she understood that she had done the right thing by bringing the little one back home.
That evening, the sky turned orange as Marta returned home. She reflected on the connection she had experienced with a child she didn’t truly know but whose heart she had touched in a profound way. She realized that sometimes, the briefest encounters can change lives, and with a smile, she promised herself to continue helping those in need.
